And it is exactly so: the difference between pornography and eroticism lies in the explicit depiction of sexual acts. The term erotic has been tarnished by those who fail to distinguish art from pornography. Your photographs should stimulate the imagination, not satisfy it. Eroticism is visual tension. Pornography leaves nothing to imagine.
Beyond Boudoir
Boudoir originated in France between the 17th and 18th centuries as a private room for women, a space for intimacy and personal care. In the 20th century, it became a photographic genre: women in lingerie photographed in their own rooms or domestic settings, with soft lighting and a pleasing aesthetic. Boudoir celebrates sensuality, but never creates true erotic tension. In boudoir, there is no eroticism.
